Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity Project (Malawi)

What we do

The Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity (SATC) Project is a 6-year, $150 million World Bank funded project. It will be implemented from 1st July, 2021 to 30th June, 2027
The main objective is to increase private sector activity along targeted corridors of Malawi and Mozambique. Similar activities are being implemented in Mozambique under the SATCP Mozambique

Regional

Regional integration can contribute to structural transformation, job creation, and poverty reduction in Eastern and Southern Africa.

Country

Malawi is a landlocked low-income country in south-east Africa that borders Mozambique, Tanzania, and Zambia.

Sectoral and Institutional

In recent years, substantial private and public investments took place along the main corridors connecting Mozambique to neighbouring countries.

Higher Level Objectives

The project responds to the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy, 2017-2022, which advocates for enhancing market access for trade through the development of transport corridors.
